Chinese lacquerware, known as 漆器 (Qī qì) in China, is a craft that never ceases to amaze us. Whether it's the intricate carved lacquer (雕漆), the shimmering mother-of-pearl inlaid lacquer (螺钿嵌漆), or the elegant gold leaf-painted lacquer (戗金), each piece tells a story of artistry and tradition.
The process of making lacquerware is meticulous, often taking weeks, even months, to complete, but the result is truly unparalleled. To bring this centuries-old craft into your hands, we’ve collaborated with a new generation of lacquer artisans to create unique DIY kits—so you can experience the beauty of this ancient art form firsthand.
