Cloisonne DIY Kit | Yellow Osmanthus Mirror

When we visited the Beijing Enamel Factory to explore the art of Jingtai Lan (景泰蓝), we were captivated by this traditional Chinese cloisonne craft of decorating metalwork with vibrant colored enamels. But we also realized that the process is labor-intensive and requires high-temperature kilns—something that felt out of reach for most DIY hobbyists and modern home decor enthusiasts.

That’s when we had an idea: What if we could bring this beautiful art form into the hands of everyday creators? By replacing the traditional copper base with a mirror, we found the perfect solution. The mirror, like a window into a classic Chinese garden, offers a glimpse of an osmanthus tree—how poetic!

We also made another twist by using colored sand (dyed, fired, and ground into fine particles) instead of the traditional enamel powders made from rare minerals. It’s more affordable, beginner-friendly, and still allows you to create vibrant, stunning designs.
